Anticipating something grimy always come earlier
I'd have laughed if i wasn't at the receiving end
Morning could not have dawned any faster
Twas as if papas' second wife had foresaw this
That woman's feet came scurrying to our hut
As there was no love lost between her and my mother
Imagine my surprise when her knocks were my crow
She'd come to relay the recent improvement
I balled my fists with a frustrated groan
Papa could care less about the feud amidst his wives
He wanted me prepped for my "husband"
Which travels faster?..bad news or good news?
Reality dawned on me faster than I could blink
My dowry had been settled
Papa didn't take much though;
"Let's save the rest for my coronation",were his words
Before this,I wont know helplessness
Even if it'd smack me in the face
My young mind came up with scenarios to escape
But a look at the door would make my courage flat line
